Birdwatching in Peru 12 days – 11 nights

Day 01: Transfer from Lima airport to the hotel.
Our staff will be waiting for you at the international airport in Lima, to accompany you to your hotel located in the district of Miraflores. check-in at the hotel.

Day 02: Birdwatching in the Villa Swamps
We will wake up early so that the private transport will take us to the “Pantanos de Villa” area, birdwatching all morning and having a break for breakfast, after a productive morning identifying birds, we will return to Lima for lunch.
After lunch in the afternoon we will continue our birding visit to “El Olivar Park” and return to the hotel to rest. Dinner is at the passengers’ expense.
Overnight at the hotel in Miraflores. (B,L)

Day 03: Flight from Lima – Cusco
Early departure from the hotel in Lima to take the domestic flight to Cusco, arriving in the capital city of the Inkas.
Arriving to the Capital City of the Inkas, we transfer to the Sacred Valley and on the way we stop to visit the “Town of the Andean weavers” Chinchero; After an exhibition of Andean textiles we continue our trip through the valley and have lunch in a typical restaurant of the place. Afterwards we will check into the hotel to rest from our first day in the valley. (B,L,D)

Day 04: Birdwatching in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Early in the morning we will leave for our full day Birdwatching, we will visit the hummingbird observatory of the Ensifera camp located in the outskirts of the village of Yanahuara. After lunch we will continue our journey visiting other birding areas in the Sacred Valley. We will return to the hotel for our respective rest. (B,L)

Day 05: Machupicchu 
This day we will leave the hotel towards the train station in Ollantaytambo, where we will take our tourist train that will take us to Machupicchu. This mythical journey will allow us to enter one of the most pristine areas of Peru, home to endemic birds that are protected by the Peruvian government. Arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes we will have lunch and then start the visit to the Inca complex of Machupicchu, in the afternoon we will return to the hotel and then we will have a welcome dinner. At the end of the day we will spend the night at the hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 06: Birdwatching in Machupicchu
We will start the morning very early in order to do our endemic birdwatching in the area of Machupicchu and the town of Aguas Calientes, in the afternoon we will have our lunch and then we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Then we will take the private transport that will take us back to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco. (B,L)

Day 07: Birdwatching at Huacarpay Lagoon
This day we will leave the hotel towards the south valley and visit the Huacarpay Lagoon where we will have a productive morning identifying and photographing birds around the lagoon. In the afternoon, we will return to Cusco for lunch and after lunch we will take a walk visiting the historical part of the city. Overnight at the hotel. (B,L)

Day 08: Free day in Cusco
This free day you will have the option to take a spiritual tour in Cusco or perhaps a cooking class followed by a Latin dance workshop. Farewell dinner included. (B)

Day 09: Drive from Cusco to Amparaes Valley
We will leave Cusco early in the morning and head to the Amparaes Valley where we can enjoy a mild climate and very special for tropical bird watching.
Our trip from Cusco to Ampares will last 4 hours in private transport. Arriving at our destination we will be able to settle in a local hotel and enjoy our lunch. Afterwards we will visit the village and spend the night in this town. (B,L,D)

Day 10: Exploring the Amparaes Valley
Early departure to the Amparaes pass located at 3500 m.a.s.l., we will enjoy a full day tour identifying birds of the area and visiting different areas of this cloud forest. In the afternoon we will return to the hotel and enjoy a local dinner and our last night in this valley. (B,L,D)

Day 11: Return to Cusco
This day we will leave the Amparaes Valley and return to Cusco. We will make technical stops en route to visit some villages and local markets. Lunch en route and return to the hotel in Cusco. We will have the afternoon free and our farewell dinner. (B,L D)

Day 12: Return to Lima
Our staff will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Cusco airport for your domestic flight back to Lima. End of services. (B)
