Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain Adventure
Lima – Cusco – Valle Sagrado – Ausangate Trek – Machu Picchu
In this programme we will have the opportunity to start our tri visiting the city of the kings – lima. Then we will take one hour flight and arrive in the city of Cusco to begin our tour through the narrow cobbled streets of the ancient capital of the Incas.
We will have the opportunity to explore the sacred valley of the Incas and visit its colorful villages full of traditions and ancestral aromas as well as the sacred river or wilkamayu that crosses the entire valley irrigating the corn plantations creating different shades of the sacred grain of the Incas.
After acclimatizing and absorbing the magic of Cusco, we will begin our journey to the ausangate Apu to discover its scenic treasures and walk along its trails as ancient as the history of the llamas, alpacas and vicuñas that inhabit this place.
We will be able to learn about the history of our muleteers and their alpaqueros societies and understand the importance of this sacred mountain for the communities located around the Apu.
We will finish our trip arriving at Machu Picchu and enjoy the scenic beauty of this icon of humanity and walk through its passages and buildings full of inca energy.
Intinerario
Day 01: Transfer from the airport in Lima to the hotel.
On this day our representative will be waiting for you at the airport to accompany you to the hotel and check you in.
Day 02: City Tour Lima.
This day we will start visiting the “city of the kings” – Lima and we will visit the main square, the church of San Francisco and the historical center of this city.
Then we will return to the district of Miraflores to enjoy a delicious Peruvian welcome lunch.
In the afternoon you will have some free time to rest and walk through the streets of this district of Miraflores. (B,L)
Day 03: Flight to Cusco and city tour.
We will start our journey very early in the morning to return to the airport in Lima to take our domestic flight to the historical city of Cusco.
Arriving at Cusco airport we will transfer to the hotel for our check-in.
Then we will go for lunch in a traditional restaurant in the city.
In the afternoon we will have our walking tour to visit the main attractions of the city.
At the end of the afternoon we will return to the hotel to rest. (B,L)
Day 04: Sacred Valley Tour
This day we will visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo and the famous indigenous market of Pisac (known for the variety of souvenirs that are sold in their stands) after that we will have our lunch and in the afternoon we will return to Cusco.(B,L)
Day 05: Cusco – Chillca
Early departure from Cusco, by private bus through the fertile Vilcanota Valley to the village of Checacupe, after a short visit to the local church, we travel through the valley of Pitumarca and through the spectacular ravine of Japura, which leads us to the Andean village of Chilca, from where we start our way to our first campsite after a short hike. Day 06 : Cusco – Antapata
Our hike starts early in the morning in the direction of the village of Chilca, we pass the valley through the qesoyuno sector, to then continue ascending with a gentle slope, through fields populated by hundreds of llamas and alpacas towards the Astanapata ravine. We will have impressive views of the Ausangate mountain, and we spend the night in the Antapata camp. (B,L,D)
Day 07: Antapata – Huampococha
We start our trek early in the morning crossing a group of mountains brightly coloured by red, ochre and blue earth strata similar to the Vinicunca or rainbow mountain, this trail offers views of amazing geological formations, this unforgettable day ends at Huampococha campsite. (B,L,D)
Day 08: Huampococha – Ollantaytambo (Train Station)
After a tasty breakfast, we climb the last stretch of the Anta pass and descend gradually towards the end of the trail.
The landscapes change as the red sandstone cliffs are followed by eroded karst limestone that forms a unique stone forest, a perfect habitat for the cute Vizcachas (a squirrel-like species in the chinchilla family).after our hearty box-lunch, our private vehicle will be waiting to take us to Ollantaytambo station to catch the afternoon train to Machu Picchu. We will arrive at the village of Aguas Calientes to spend our first night near the Inca complex. (B;L;D)
Day 09: Machu Picchu Tour
After an early wake up we will take the bus to Machu Picchu, to enter the archaeological site and start our tour exploring every corner of this unique place in the world, we will give you some options to visit the Inca complex visiting every temple and main square.
After lunch we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo station and then transfer to Cusco city in our private transportation.
Farewell dinner is included. (B,L;D)
